Dr. Gebril is an associate professor of cybersecurity engineering at GMU. He served as a primary patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In his career at USPTO, he has been involved in patent examination and prosecuting patent applications in the areas in the data storage and networking fields, where he has worked in intellectual property matters directed to computer security, enterprise network security and authentication, databases, data processing and memory storage devices.

Gebril completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering from NC A&T State University in the area of big data indexing, machine learning and AI applications where he published several peer-reviewed papers. He received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from NC A&T State University in the area of Robotics navigation and optimization and completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt.

Dr. Gebril joined GMU as an adjunct professor in 2016 where he has been teaching several Cyber Security Engineering and Information Technology courses.
